A “Stranger Things” Birthday

For my boyfriend Brandon’s 19th birthday I wanted to do something extra fun & special. We both recently watched Stranger Things on Netflix and like the rest of the world, we quickly became obsessed. I decided that would be a good theme for his birthday and incorporated the show into the activities we did for the day, card, presents, and cake!

I made mini VCRs on the back of notecards. There were 8 different activities for each episode and I altered the episode names to go along with each activity.

The activities ranged from playing board games (unfortunately I didn’t have Dungeons and Dragons), building forts (like Eleven’s), going to the mall and buying a new shirt so we wouldn’t be “recognized”, going on a bike ride, and playing laser tag to fight the Demogorgon.

I wrapped each of his presents based on different aspects of the show. An Eggo box for Eleven’s love of waffles, a camo bandana like Lucas’, a painted black box with torn cotton swabs for “The Upside Down”, and a Coke can for when Eleven used her powers to crush a Coke can.

This was the easiest wrapping ever, which is great for me because wrapping presents isn’t one of my talents. I just put the waffles in the freezer and put the present inside!

This one was super easy too, I just emptied a Coke can and then hot glued it to the wrapping!

I used the website, makeitstranger.com, for the birthday card.

I just cut out a silhouette and drew in the rest!

Brandon’s favorite cake is German chocolate. I added a mini energy waffle and 11 candles, and then four more candles on each side to add up to 19!

This birthday was so much fun to plan. Can’t wait for season 2 😉
