My love for Oregon first emerged after watching “The Goonies”. For years I have wanted to visit the Goon Docks, and this May I finally got the opportunity to. We arrived in Portland soaking wet and ready for adventure. After two days of experiencing some of the weirdest and most mesmerizing things in my life, (including eerie amusement parks in the middle of a forest, blue cheese and peach ice cream, a coffee shop that was only open after 7 p.m., the world’s smallest park, and a place where you can smoke and drink in school) we headed to stay at our Airbnb on a farm on a small island in Washington. We visited the farm animals, made s’mores, and just enjoyed the great outdoors. After that, we took a ferry from Washington to Oregon and drove to Astoria, Oregon, home of the Goonies gang. The town is just what I thought it would be like and satisfied so much of my childhood. We took a drive to Cannon Beach where the Fratellis restaurant was located and it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. If you are looking for an adventure, I highly encourage you to journey to Oregon… I already want to go back!
